Previous to taking up the study of the textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy, I had always believed that ingratitude was one of the greatest of sins, but how much more I could see it after getting an understanding of the great truths taught in this book! Since that wonderful day I have had so many things for which to be grateful — for myself and many others — that a sense of gratitude is continually present for some known blessing.

My first healing was of tuberculosis of the throat and lungs, so pronounced by several doctors. When medical science could do no more for me, Science and Health was given to me with the remark that it might help me. Later I became very ill, and a Christian Science practitioner was secured, who worked for me a number of weeks, seemingly without success; but suddenly, one day when I seemed to be in the very depths of despair, I was completely healed.

Since that time a number of so-called serious diseases have been proved to be but painful illusions, including inflammatory rheumatism, pneumonia, a decayed internal organ, abscesses, inflammation of the eyes and gums, injuries from accidents, severe burns, and many other difficulties. All that we possess we owe to Christian Science — not only health, but home, position, and supply, everything that makes life worth living; not the least of which are the many opportunities for passing on some of this joy that we have received to others who are also longing for the truth, and who know not where to find it. — (Mrs.) Addie Hatfield Meigs, Redding, California.
