Christian Scientists generally are familiar with the By Law entitled "Literature in Reading Rooms" (Church Manual, Art. XXI, Sect. 3) which provides that literature "sold or exhibited in the reading rooms . . . shall consist only of Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures, by Mary Baker Eddy, and other writings by this author; also the literature published or sold by The Christian Science Publishing Society."

Those responsible for the conduct of Christian Science Reading Rooms, including the librarians and attendants, need especially to remember that alertness is essential in this important activity of our movement, in order that all who seek the healing truth may find it through the writings of our Leader, Mary Baker Eddy, and through the avenues which she has provided in this By-Law.

In a few instances, literature which has not been published by the Trustees under the Will of Mary Baker Eddy or by The Christian Science Publishing Society, nor sold by the Publishing Society, has wrongly been placed in Christian Science Reading Rooms, contrary to the above-mentioned By-Law. Some extraneous literature is properly displayed in Reading Rooms by virtue of its being published by the Publishing Society, while other literature is there for the reason that it is sold by the Publishing Society. The latter applies to the biography of Mrs. Eddy by Dr. Lyman P. Powell and the book "What Mrs. Eddy Said To Arthur Brisbane."
