My heart is filled with gratitude for all that Christian Science...

My heart is filled with gratitude for all that Christian Science has done for me and mine, and for the healing it is bringing to mankind.

During the past eighteen years I have had many proofs of this healing truth. Soon after I took up the study of Christian Science a badly sprained ankle, from which I suffered intense pain for hours, was instantaneously healed after calling a practitioner. Later an aggravated attack of ptomaine poisoning was met and overcome in one treatment. Severe Injuries, including a displaced vertebra, a bad wrench, and a cut across the top of my head, — results of an automobile accident, — were so completely overcome in fiftyfour hours under Christian Science treatment that I was able to attend a wedding and assist in receiving the guests, with no evidence of the experience. I have had many other healings of discordant physical conditions; but that for which I am most grateful is the understanding I have gained of God as Love, Life, and Mind, of the perfect man of His creation, and of the power of this truth to overcome the false beliefs of mortal mind with the spiritual facts of man's true being, thus bringing peace and happiness and the proof of God's ever present loving care.

One demonstration that stands out to me is the overcoming of the fear of death. This fear was very great for myself, but it was even greater for those dear to me, especially my mother. After taking up the study of Christian Science I wondered why Jesus had said, "If a man keep my saying, he shall never see death," and Mrs. Eddy taught its unreality; and yet we seemed to see it on all sides. A number of years passed, and I then took Mrs. Eddy's writings, with the Concordances, and looked up all I could find on life as well as death. I did not receive enlightenment at once; but some statements I kept in thought, until one morning, in a very simple way, I likened the experience of death to one's passing through a door and closing it and not being able to return. This simple solution was followed by constant unfoldment in my thought. Harmony must come through thinking, whether before or after the experience, and so there would be a continuity of life — proving that there is no death. As I again took up the study of the attributes of Life and realized they are eternal, and endeavored to know man as the image and reflection of God, I found fear being destroyed.
