The Lectures

Introductions to Lectures

Auckland, New Zealand (First Church).

Lecturer: Judge Samuel W. Greene; introduced by Arnold Morrison, who said:—

Some years ago I was told of Christian Science and given some of the Christian Science books by Mary Baker Eddy to read. I read these and was slightly interested in them, but still thought Christian Science was more or less a religious fad. However, later, due to a healing I experienced through the help of my mother, a Christian Scientist, I became interested in this wonderful study. I had been asphyxiated by gas from a califont during the operations of a hot bath, and before I was found the water was overflowing from the top of the bath. It was proved that I must have been under water for at least half an hour. As I was not a Christian Scientist, a doctor's help was obtained; but after four visits he was still unable to restore me to consciousness. My mother helped me through Christian Science and in about nine hours I woke from my sleep feeling practically as well as I do to-day. I am very grateful for this proof of the omnipotence of Truth.
