Answered Prayer

Flow out, great heart of Christ, in love to me,
That I may understand the Mind that lies
Without the mortal sense of self, may rise
Above, beyond the seeming trend, and see
The son of God. The solitude will be
Replete with tender love; for Love denies
The presence of aught else, and now replies
To him who heeds, I am reality.

And so the busy city street contains
Love's message. There, perhaps, a stranger friend
Is needing what 'tis mine to give—a glance,
A smile—and in the passing stream remains
A gladder heart; for Love will ever send
Forth love, his load to bear, his way enhance.
