Signs of the Times

[Rev. Reginald C. Frost, as quoted in the Richmond Herald, England]

A holiday is a holy day, not given to us to do just what we like with. We should regard holidays as opportunities for making ourselves fitter for living the life God has given us. We should think not only of ourselves but of our duty to others. We are all circumstanced differently, and so need different kinds of holidays.... The Bible tells us that Jesus often felt the need of holiday, when he could be quiet, alone, and in prayer with God. Of St. Paul we read that when overworked, and when preparing for his work of Christian missionary and teacher, he went into the desert of Arabia to think out his problems. We do not get the best out of holidays unless we get a deeper and bigger sense of God and of His goodness.
