In November, 1927, I was taken ill with what doctors called curvature of the spine. I was put in a body cast which was an inch thick and weighed fifty pounds, and was in it for six months. A doctor then said that I had tuberculosis of the spine and should have to go to a sanitarium. In May I was taken to the sanitarium, where the cast was taken off and I was put on a frame and told I should have to be on it for at least two years. I became homesick at the sanitarium and my parents brought me home on the frame.
It was then that I became interested in Christian Science. On the fifth day of July a practitioner came to my aid and gave me my first treatment. On July 29 I was able, through the understanding of our heavenly Father gained through Christian Science, to be taken off the frame and put in bed. In three days I was sitting up in bed, and in five days took my first step. After that I was able to be up and around every day. My mother, who took care of me, says that whereas before there was a curvature of the spine, now the spine is perfectly straight. I have had no pain or trouble with my back in the years that have followed.
I am very grateful that I have found this truth which Jesus said would make us free.
