Spiritual Ideas and Supply

There is to-day throughout many parts of the world an eager turning of thought towards the subject of supply as interpreted and demonstrated through Christian Science. As a result of the economic upheaval in different countries, together with the business and financial depression, an increasing number are faced with an acute problem of daily livelihood.

Driven by keen necessity, many are turning to inquire what Christian Science can do for them in their extremity. Then, with what joy does the Christian Scientist avail himself of the opportunity and privilege of presenting God, who is Love, confidently reassuring these anxious inquirers that, as Mrs. Eddy says in "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" (p. 494), "Divine Love always has met and always will meet every human need." Out of wells of gratitude, as it were, for oft-repeated proofs of the truth of this statement in his own experience, the Christian Scientist can speak to such seekers convincingly and with power, thus bearing witness to one of the most vital truths in Christian Science.

The crux of the whole question of supply in Christian Science is given by the Discoverer and Founder of this Science, Mary Baker Eddy, in the following statement (Miscellaneous Writings, p. 307): "God gives you His spiritual ideas, and in turn, they give you daily supplies." Through reaching out for and mentally laying hold of God's ideas the human need is met. Briefly stated, this is the Science of supply in Christian Science, and anyone may avail himself of the opportunity of demonstrating its truth. On first presentation this new concept of supply may seem somewhat vague and not readily grasped; but because of this let no one distrust it, but rather apply himself to putting it to proof.
