Mrs. Eddy is not and never has been deified or worshiped by Christian Scientists. She was ever most insistent that her followers look to her writings for guidance, and not to her person. Mrs. Eddy was neither ignorant nor vulgar, as your correspondent asserts. Her writings stand a monument to a cultured Christian scholar. She was one of the most refined and gracious of women. She enjoyed good health after her discovery of Christian Science, and is known to-day by her fruits of righteous accomplishment as a great religious leader. Her gift to the world is essentially Christian in precept and practice; and its proofs of healing and redemption make it convincingly scientific.
