Many years ago I was the recipient of God's precious gift of spiritual healing, and I feel impelled to express the gratitude so deeply felt for the innumerable proofs of the care and protection of divine Love. When the light first dawned I was in a measure prepared to relinquish my beliefs in the human ideals which had been holding me in bondage, and to find solace in the more enlightened concept of God as Life and Love.

I had been spending some time abroad, and unfortunately just before the time for sailing I was quarantined in the cholera zone. Being quite alone at the time, my friends having returned at an earlier date, I did not escape the fear which very generally prevailed; and this was manifested later in a long and tedious illness. In those days Christian Science practitioners were not so numerous as they now are, and one who was almost a total stranger to me asked the privilege of calling to see me. I assented to treatment, but not without some lurking doubts as to just what the process might be. However, the glorious truth entered my consciousness, giving me fresh courage to try to live. I remained under Christian Science treatment three months and a half. The physical healing was manifested in freedom and harmony of body, the spiritual healing finding expression in higher aims and ideas of living, in the stronger desire to know and to live the truth. I had hoped that my changed attitude of thought would recommend itself to my friends, but to my surprise it had the opposite effect. Sad and fatal consequences were prophesied, but, unmoved, I clung tenaciously to that which seemed to me a good thing.

To-day I rejoice with thankfulness that I was able to discern the truth when it appeared, and to recognize the Comforter which the Master promised he would send to us.—(Miss) Fredrika Parsons, Brookline, Massachusetts.
