Some time ago I met with a serious accident
Some time ago I met with a serious accident. I was knocked down at a bus stop, and the front and back wheels of the motor bus went over my left foot. I had no fear at all, but thought what a splendid opportunity it was to prove more of the healing power of Christian Science.
I had the privilege of being nursed for three weeks in one of the Christian Science Houses, and I can never say how grateful I am for all the loving care and attention I received while there. Several trained nurses told me that under medical treatment I should not have been allowed to put my foot to the ground for at least three months, but at the end of ten days I was able to walk from one room to another, and in a little over a month I was walking out of doors again. No material remedies were used, and I experienced very little pain after the first night. There is nothing left to indicate which was the injured foot. No words can express my gratitude to the practitioner for all the faithful help she gave me during that time, and for all the loving help and encouragement received from her in other times of difficulty.
It would be impossible to count the blessings that have come into my life through Christian Science, but some of those for which I am most grateful are class instruction from a loyal teacher and membership in The Mother Church and a branch church. As we progress in our understanding of Christian Science we realize that no matter what the problems may be with which we are confronted, the remedy is always the same, and that remedy is to gain a better understanding of God and of our true spiritual selfhood.
