Of Its "own accord"

We read in the twelfth chapter of the Acts of the Apostles of Peter's deliverance from prison. When he and the angel-visitant reached the heavy outer iron gate, it "opened to them of his own accord."

A Christian Science student was once called upon to make a decision which would affect his whole future. The question was whether or not this student should step out into a life dedicated to God. He was at the gate of decision. While he was wrestling with the problem and still knowing the truth, suddenly the gate opened of its "own accord" and he walked through into a larger life of Christian activity. The call of God and His need of workers in His vast vineyard were stronger than the lure of material gain.

Whatever problem confronts us, whether it be lack, sorrow, or sin, we have but to know that God in His love for His children will open the gate through which they may "go in and out, and find pasture." As David met Goliath of Gath, so must we meet the giants of error and destroy them, courageously coming as did David "in the name of the Lord of hosts."
