Your issue of July 5 contains a synopsis of a sermon preached by a clergyman in which he makes a reference to Christian Science which is misleading.

Christian Science is the full gospel of Christ Jesus, which heals the sick as well as reforms the sinner. No Christian teaching is complete without the signs which Christ Jesus declared should follow them that believe on him. For about three hundred years after the ascension Christians were able to heal the sick and raise the dead through his spiritual method, and in Christian Science Mrs. Eddy discovered the divine Principle by which those works were done.

It is interesting that Dr. Samuel McComb, of Boston, Massachusetts, speaking at a Guild of Health meeting at the Church House, Westminster, on June 4, said it was essential for the Christian church as a whole to accept the truths for which Christian Science stood. He also declared that the striking thing about Mary Baker Eddy and her followers was that in about fifty years they had gathered together a larger number of persons in the United States than the Episcopal church of the United States had gathered in two centuries.
