Extracts from Reports of Christian Science Committees on Publication for the Year Ended September 30, 1930

One striking indication of better relations in our state is the marked decrease in recent years in the number of newspaper articles requiring correction. For instance, newspaper reports of pulpit attacks on Christian Science, which used to be constantly appearing, are seemingly no longer published intentionally. In the past two years only two such reports have come to my notice; in each of these the reference to our religion was brief, and its publication was probably unintentional. It is apparent that misstatements about Christian Science which formerly found free circulation by this means have ceased to deceive, and therefore they have ceased to appear.

Two recent examples of constructive publicity initiated by The Mother Church deserve mention. Before the Christian Science Benevolent Association's sanatorium at San Francisco was opened recently, a stereotype picture with a description of the new institution was sent to newspapers from this office, under the bold headline, "Christian Science Sanatorium in California." Ninety-five Michigan newspapers reproduced this announcement in their news columns, thus bringing the healing activities of our church to the notice of newspaper readers all over the state in a prominent and concrete way.

A condensed report of the Annual Meeting of The Mother Church, furnished by this office, was published in one hundred and thirty-one Michigan newspapers. This report mentioned several definite evidences of growth and activity, and its publication in more than one third of the newspapers of the state gave these impressive facts wide and merited publicity.
