At the Wednesday evening meeting in The Mother Church on October 21, the First Reader announced from the desk that in order that the local congregation of The Mother Church might have opportunity to contribute to the building of the new Publishing House, The Christian Science Board of Directors had decided to turn the collections on the third Sunday of each month over to the Church Treasurer to be added to the Publishing House Building Fund, and that this practice would be continued until the contributions from all sources are sufficient to meet the entire cost of the new building. The collections taken in the Sunday school sessions of The Mother Church on the third Sunday of each month will also be turned over to the Church Treasurer for this fund.

In preparation for the building of the new Publishing House a Committee representing The Mother Church and The Christian Science Publishing Society visited various recently built newspaper plants and other modern office buildings for the purpose of obtaining information and new ideas. As a result of the Committee's investigation it became evident that the business of The Christian Science Publishing Society is unique, in that it includes the printing and publishing of books, of religious periodicals, and of a daily newspaper. So far as is known there is no other Publishing House in the world which includes all of these activities.
