Christian Science came to me at a time when I was in need of physical healing. The physician who was caring for me told me a surgical operation would be necessary; but, not being willing to submit to this, I told my troubles to a friend, a Christian Scientist. She asked me if I would not try Christian Science before giving the doctor my answer, and I agreed to do so. That evening I faily ran to a near-by practitioner, and was instantly healed after the first treatment. I was most grateful for that healing; and it was also quite a revelation to me, in view of the fact that for many years I had been a trained nurse, most of my work being among surgical cases. When Christian Science had been mentioned to me before, I had always said that I thought it must be fine for mental cases, but I did not believe it could possibly take the place of the surgeon's knife. My healing proved right at the start it could, and I was indeed grateful.

I felt, however, that if my little daughter were to become ill, I should be afraid to trust her to Christian Science. I thought that while it was indeed the right treatment for adults, who could read and reason for themselves, it would hardly do to trust a little child to its care. But the time came when my little one became quite ill with a cold, cough, and fever, and I was forced to trust her to God's care. This healing took several weeks, during which many doubts and fears were experienced, but they were overcome by the beautiful truth which the practitioner so patiently and lovingly explained. With that healing came a greater sense of gratitude, a stronger faith, and a better understanding of God.

Since then, about six years ago, many other healings have taken place in our home. My little girl's finger, which was crushed in a door, was completely healed in a few hours by reading from the Christian Science textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy. She has also been healed of coughs, colds, fevers, stomach disorders, chicken pox, eczema, measles; in fact, every discordant condition which has appeared has been met and overcome by Truth. I experienced a beautiful healing of severe bronchitis with an accompanying condition of heart trouble.
