Journal-Gazette

In your issue of March 31 you printed a part of a sermon in which a clergyman discussed the reality of sin, and took exception to the fact that the Discoverer and Founder of Christian Science, Mary Baker Eddy, claims in her teachings that sin is unreal.

Christian Science does not deny that sin, disease, and death seem real to false, frightened human sense, but it does deny that they are of God's creating; for He is infinite good, without a knowledge of evil. As recorded in Habakkuk, "Thou art of purer eyes than to behold evil, and canst not look on iniquity." Did not Paul say, "For this corruptible must put on incorruption, and this mortal must put on immortality"? Then why should it be thought illogical or inconsistent to claim this redemption?

Thousands of grateful hearts throughout the world are bearing loving witness to the healing and redeeming power of Christian Science. They are proving individually that evil is not power; that God is Mind, unfolding the light of divine intelligence in the receptive consciousness; that Spirit reigns supreme. And thus do the pains and pleasures of sensuality lose their seeming reality.
