Argus-Press

I thank you for the Editor's Note which followed a letter in your columns on April 1 from a doctor. I am sure that the newspapers of the United States would be unanimous in indorsing your statement, "We have no recollection of having been 'gagged' on any of our articles by the so-called influence of the Christian Scientists." This is a declaration which can be made without qualification.

Christian Scientists naturally desire that their faith shall not be misrepresented in the press or elsewhere, but they neither shrink from nor seek to suppress honest discussion. Moreover, they try especially to avoid criticizing or condemning the beliefs of their neighbors whose views differ from their own, and they respect the medical profession in its sincere endeavors to benefit suffering humanity. Your correspondent will no doubt gladly approve this Christian ideal of neighborly conduct.
