As a child I learned to love the Bible and the church...
As a child I learned to love the Bible and the church which I attended at that time. But as I grew older and problems presented themselves, I found no help in my religion. My prayers remained unanswered, and it seemed as though the beautiful promises in the Bible were impossible of fulfillment. In discouragement I turned away from my church, put the Bible away, and decided that all religions were useless; for did I not see sin and suffering on all sides? However, I never lost faith in God, and this I gratefully attribute to that early training in Bible study; but I thought I should have to wait until after death to find Him.
Christian Science was presented to me in 1915, and it seemed like a refreshing drink of water to a thirsty, dusty, tired traveler. I had heard of it before, but it had never been presented to me in the right way. At that time I was endeavoring to help a dear one who ws ill, and my thought was filled with a sense of human responsibility, fear, and self-pity. I had no thought of being healed at that time myself, but in a very short time chronic throat trouble was destroyed, as well as constipation, indigestion, and corns. Extreme nervousness, nervous headaches, and mental depression were also healed, and although these yielded more slowly, I am grateful, for many faults of character were uncovered and destroyed.
I have been healed of a crumbling condition of the teeth, which have become strong and sound, in spite of statements by several dentists that I should lose all of my teeth in time. It is seldom necessary for me to be in a dentist's chair now, whereas formerly I spent a great deal of time there.
