It is with a sincere sense of gratitude for what Christian Science has done for me that I wish to give this testimony. I was a Jewess, and before I took up the study of Christian Science the New Testament was a closed book to me. It was early in my experience that I truly felt what Mrs. Eddy meant when she said, "Pilgrim on earth, thy home is heaven; stranger, thou art the guest of God" (Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures, p. 254). This was thirteen years ago. My first healing, which was that of a nervous breakdown, was very slow. This proved a blessing for it meant study. During this experience I was healed of tapeworm. This healing was very wonderful to me, for the condition had seemed so very real; then followed the healing of sinus trouble.
About twelve years ago, after the birth of our daughter, I was seized with a hemorrhage which lasted throughout the night. I lost my sense of sight and feeling, and the power of speech, one by one; but I could still hear and think; and realizing, as taught by our dear Leader, that "Life is God" (ibid., p. 394), I was able to prove that blood was not my life. This trial recalled Jacob's experience recorded in Genesis 32:24—30, and Mrs. Eddy's interpretation of this incident in Science and Health, page 308, lines 16 to 23. Four days after this I passed a tumor which weighed a pound and a half. None of us knew that I had this growth.
I want to express gratitude for the privilege of sending my children to the Christian Science Sunday School. Words are inadequate to express my thanks and appreciation for all Christian Science has done for me and mine. My prayer, as expressed in one of Mrs. Eddy's hymns, is (Miscellaneous Writings, p. 397; Poems, p. 13)
