[Written for the Sentinel]

City Foursquare

Upon the mount transfigured in pure light,
Above all sense of age, or pain, or sin,
Is Spirit's city fair, wherein unite
Those followers true, whose hearts are pure within,
Who live in Christ.

Unto no place confined, this city holy
Abides within the radiant hearts of those
Who live to heal the sick, to raise the lowly;
In consciousness of joy the healing glows
From Christ, the rock.

Here health and joy abide, eternal life
Of Soul, with undimmed radiance now beheld,
Which gives to men a refuge sure from strife,
Where dwells the dove, all sense of earth dispelled
By living Christ.
