"God gave the increase"

Daily increase in spiritual dominion and harmony, through gaining greater knowledge of God, infinite good, is the only increase for which any law exists. For increased discord, disease, idleness, sorrow, or growth in error of any kind, there is no law.

Through understanding God's law of increase, one gains efficiency and is equipped to render greater service to mankind. In this service there is no servitude, no burden, for the law of freedom strengthens those who respond to it. No one should give his mental consent to be the servant of sickness, loneliness, selfishness, sinfulness. These obsessions of the so-called carnal mind are destined to decrease to the vanishing point. One should never think of sin or disease as a quantity, quality, or condition liable to increase. All that can increase is the understanding and demonstration of the perfection of God and all His creation, which He not only creates but forever sustains and blesses. This law of progress the Christian Scientist should perpetually prove.

Paul's words, "God gave the increase," apply not only to the ministry of the early Christians but equally to the ministry of Christian Science. Every case of healing wrought in Christian Science, whether rapidly or gradually, is the result of spiritual law operating in human consciousness. Times without number the specific errors in each case have decreased till they disappeared, for in every such case of healing "God gave the increase," the increased understanding of good.
