Cotuit, Massachusetts (First Church).—In order to accommodate the increasing number of people attending the summer Christian Science services at Cotuit, First Church of Christ, Scientist, work has started on an extension building with a seating capacity of more than double that of the present church. Land approximately twenty by one hundred and ninety feet was purchased from the Rockwell estate adjoining the church property, and it is upon this that the new structure is being erected. It will have a seating capacity of two hundred and sixty, as against one hundred for the present church. A cloister will connect the two buildings, making a complete architectural unit, and giving easy access from one building to another. It is the present intention to continue the use of the old church for all church activities this coming winter, and in the summer for the Sunday school and Reading Room, the Sunday services and Wednesday evening meetings to be held in the extension next summer.—Barnstable Patriot.
