In the State of October 27 there was published a sermon by the pastor of a local church. The subject, "Divine Healing," was ably handled, and the minister made an inspiring appeal to his audience and readers to seek bodily healing through prayer as taught and practiced by our Master. But it is to be regretted that while preaching the gospel, he should turn aside from his sacred mission to disparage, even to deny, the healing works accomplished by another Christian religion.

Great multitudes of sick people followed Jesus because of his "fame." Therefore, did not his healing works "advertise" his religion as surely as the healing ministry serves to make known the religion which practices it to-day? Indeed, when our Master commanded his disciples to preach the gospel, he said, "These signs shall follow them that believe; ... they shall lay hands on the sick, and they shall recover."

It seems incredible that one should think that the sick and afflicted who have been seeking healing from their family physicians and from renowned specialists, could be healed in Christian Science simply "through faith in Mrs. Eddy," whom they have never seen and of whom they may know little. Often the practitioner is at quite a distance and is not known personally to the sufferer, who may be unconscious or insane. How could such as these be healed by having their imagination captured, as our critic avers?
