When I was very young in Christian Science, a small mole developed on my neck. It grew larger, and I frequently put my hand up to feel it, making no effort to overcome the belief by applying the truth. One day a friend who is a physician remarked that sometime he was going to cut off that mole. Shortly after this, circumstances led me to attend the services of the Christian Science Society in the little town where I was staying. I had previously considered that I could be a Christian Scientist without going to church. With my continued attendance there came an effort to clear my thought relative to the manifestation on my neck. I do not know when I stopped thinking about this mole; I only know that one day I suddenly realized that it had disappeared entirely.

I am most thankful that the teachings of Christian Science taught me to say, "Thy will be done," during a period of sadness and loneliness which made me long for companionship. Because I relied upon God to point out the way, I have enjoyed far greater happiness than I could possibly have realized, had I followed my human inclinations. I shall never forget the kindness and patience of my friends during this period of waiting.

During the later part of December, 1929, I suffered from an abscess in my ear and found it necessary to ask for help, which was lovingly given. Notwithstanding sleepless nights, the absence of my maid, and a guest in the house for a fortnight, I was able to carry on with a musical entertainment which had been planned for Christmas, neither the guest nor the neighbors knowing of the difficulty. The trouble yielded slowly, and at times error tried to tell me that I should be unable to give this musicale as I could hear absolutely nothing in one ear. However, the application of the truth was continued, and the Sunday before Christmas the abscess opened, and I thanked God that once more Truth had been victorious.
