I send this testimony in the hope that those suffering from a similar complaint will see that nothing is impossible with God. In 1922 a doctor told me that I might possibly regain my health if I tried a change of climate; he could not, however, give me any guaranty of this.

After a year and a half in Texas I returned to St. Louis somewhat better in health, but four months later I suffered a relapse and was taken to a hospital for consumptives only. I was there for two years and a half, but was not healed. Then I consulted a specialist, but found no help there either. About this time one of my friends was healed through Christian Science, and she gave me the address of a practitioner. I went to see her on a hot summer's day, and as I was very thirsty I asked for a glass of water. She immediately opened the refrigerator and gave me a glass of cold water. I said that I was afraid to drink cold water. She explained to me at once that "not that which goeth into the mouth defileth a man," and pointed out to me the passage in the Bible where Jesus explained so clearly what does harm mankind. All that she explained to me about Christian Science proved it to be in accordance with the Bible, which made me very hopeful. I drank the cold water, and since I did not begin to cough, the truth was proved to me, and I felt wonderfully free from fear.

After four treatments I was healed, and as my mother was taken ill at the time, I did all the housework, including the washing and ironing. That spring I was notified by the board of health that I was to present myself for an examination. A doctor examined me three times thoroughly and was quite surprised not to find any sign of the disease.
