I have been so greatly benefited by reading the testimonies...

I have been so greatly benefited by reading the testimonies in the Journal and Sentinel that I am impelled to testify to the many blessings that have come to me since beginning the study of Christian Science, about eleven years ago. A member of my family was in a hopeless condition. Health, money, and, it seemed, sanity were almost gone. A friend who had been healed of a stomach trouble which the doctors admitted they were unable to relieve, told him of Christian Science. This friend's wife came to our home every day and read to us from the textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy. We could not seem to grasp its teachings, though I now know that the healing started from that time.

We left this town, as we had lost our home, and for three years we met no Scientists. Then we moved to a small city where there was a Christian Science Society, and where we again became associated with Scientists. I attended the services, and realized that here was the religion I wanted and needed. I bought the textbook, and from that time have faithfully studied it in connection with the Bible, whose treasures have been revealed to me only through this "key," although I have been a Bible student all my life.

It is impossible to recount all the blessings that have come to me through Christian Science. There has been cross-bearing, as well as many battles with error; but always the right application of the teachings of Christ, Truth, has brought the victory. While going home from church with my daughter and a friend one Wednesday evening, we were run over by an automobile at a street crossing. I was thrown several feet, landing on my head. My first conscious thought was that I must get up and comfort my daughter, who was calling to me. On rising from the gutter where I had fallen I found my daughter unhurt, but my friend was lying in the middle of the street, seemingly badly injured. I went to her and began repeating "the scientific statement of being" (Science and Health, p. 468). Another car drew up, filled with Scientists on their way home from the service. They took my friend home, about a block away, and went for a practitioner. I was able to walk home. Through the practitioner's help my friend was out the next Sunday, and I had no bad effects from the accident except a large swelling on the back of my head, and this disappeared the next day.
