Lecturer: Peter V. Ross; introduced by Miss E. Lucy Varley, who said:—

I am a living witness to the healing and saving power of the Christ, Truth, as it is presented to us in Christian Science. From the time I was a child I was extremely delicate; and as I grew up I was frequently in the hands of doctors, who did their best for me, but they could not heal me; and eventually I came to a point where I was seemingly in danger of going under altogether, mentally and physically. It was then that a friend told me of Christian Science. I was very frightened of it at first, for prior to this I had vaguely supposed this teaching was unscriptural and unorthodox. I was, however, keenly interested in the efforts that were being made to find the solution of the social problem, and I had sought earnestly for a law which, provided it was understood and obeyed, would bring the nation prosperity, naturally and inevitably; and when the friend told me that Christian Science gives to us the law of God, which Christ Jesus knew, and by means of which he did his wonderful works, then, in spite of my fears, I felt impelled to look into it; and within a few days I knew that I had found the law which, proportionately as it is understood and obeyed, will bring health and happiness, peace and prosperity, not to the people of this nation only, but to the people of every nation throughout the world.
