We have had so many beautiful proofs of the healing...

We have had so many beautiful proofs of the healing power of Truth and the protection of Love that I am writing this in gratitude to Christian Science and to the practitioner who has so faithfully and lovingly helped us whenever called upon. The following incidents may help someone else, as the testimonies of others have often helped me.

One day my little girl put her finger through the bars of a cage to play with a monkey, and it bit her finger severely. I declared mentally that God was our only physician and tied up her finger in a clean handkerchief until we should reach home, after a two hours' trip. When home I washed her finger in water, bandaged it as best I could, and tried to call a practitioner, as my husband had a great fear of infection; but I was unable to reach the practitioner for two days. However, it came to me clearly the first evening that the finger was healed. In a short time we were able to remove the bandage, but there were evidences that a ligament or some muscle had been cut, as the tip of the finger hung down and the child seemed unable to move it. There was some doubt in my mind as to the advisability of consulting a doctor, when with the loving help of a practitioner the thought came to me that God does not do His work halfway. The healing was slow, but the finger is now quite normal and unscarred.

While my other little girl and I were riding, we had another beautiful proof of the protection of Truth. We were trotting our horses along a wood road when we came up to two other riders ahead of us who, on hearing our approach, started their horses off at a gallop. My child's pony, seeing the horses galloping ahead, became excited and started down the road after them. I called to her to pull him in and tried to overtake her, but soon realized that she had lost all control of the pony and that my horse was unable to catch up to her. My only thought was that we were in God's hands and He would protect us. As the pony finally caught up to the horses in front, only after several miles' hard gallop, it swerved into the woods and the child was pitched off on to a pile of rocks. By the time I was off my horse, she had picked herself up and was holding the pony by the bridle. She was not even bruised, nor was the pony hurt. She mounted again, and we rode home quietly, declaring our gratitude to divine Love. She said that when she discovered she was unable to stop the pony the words of a hymn she had learned in Sunday school came to her, "Everlasting arms of Love." And I truly felt that she had been in the arms of everlasting Love; and it is with the deepest gratitude that I am writing this.
