When I was two years old, I was unable to move my left...
When I was two years old, I was unable to move my left arm and leg because of infantile paralysis. For about eighteen years after my recovery from this ailment I was under the influence of its after effects. I walked with a limp and with one shoulder lower than the other. Because of this I could not run or participate in sports as did other boys of my age. Friends said that, probably, I would in time outgrow this stiffness.
One day a swimming instructor told me that the muscles in my limbs were not fully developed. I also noticed that the veins of my left leg showed quite prominently, and that the bones of the foot stuck out and made a weblike appearance. Although I had been in Christian Science some years, and had had many wonderful demonstrations, I never had thought of having work done for my inability to walk properly. The help of a Christian Science practitioner was asked for, and the next morning I discovered that my left leg and foot were as fully formed as my right ones. This wonderful demonstration proved to me that the healing was not due to outgrowing the trouble, but that it was an instantaneous destruction of a false belief of years' standing through divine Science.
I am exceedingly grateful for the work of the practitioner and for the truth as revealed to us through Mary Baker Eddy. I am also grateful for membership in the Christian Science Society of the University of Michigan and for the many demonstrations I have had.
