I wish to express my gratitude to God for leading me to...
I wish to express my gratitude to God for leading me to Christian Science. I came to it thirty-seven years ago, as I was passing through great sorrow and grief over the loss of my husband and our little girl. It healed my broken heart and gave me a peace that I had never before known: it awakened me from a deep sleep. We read in Genesis, "Jacob awaked out of his sleep, and he said, Surely the Lord is in this place; and I knew it not." In "Miscellaneous Writings" (pp. 175, 176) Mrs. Eddy says, "But remember God in all thy ways, and thou shalt find the truth that breaks the dream of sense, letting the harmony of Science that declares Him, come in with healing, and peace, and perfect love." I am very grateful for the spiritual understanding that I have gained through the study of Christian Science, and for the healing and peace which have accompanied it.
My first physical healing was that of a so-called incurable disease. Afterward I was healed of many minor troubles, such as catarrh, neuralgia, and rheumatism. I had worn glasses for fifteen years. Eight years ago, through the daily study of the Bible, together with "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy, my sight was restored, and I have not needed glasses since. None but those who have had a similar experience can know the joy it gives. Another healing for which I am very grateful is the following. Going downstairs I missed a step and dropped on my knees, so that both knees were bruised. I got up declaring that the perfect child of God could not be hurt, but for several days I suffered pain and could not rest day or night. One day, about three weeks after I had fallen, I sat down to work in Christian Science. I read my books most of the day; and late in the evening, while still working, I noticed that I felt light and free. Then the thought came that I was healed, but I could not believe it to be true. I got on my feet and found myself entirely free from pain. I slept well all that night, and the next morning the bruises and blue spots had gone. I did not suffer again with them.
How grateful I am for this truth that frees from all discord! Most of all I am grateful for the spiritual understanding I have gained from Christian Science. It has taught me how to live and love. It has destroyed many ugly faults, and has given me a peace within. I am thankful to be a member of The Mother Church, and happy that my three daughters also are members.
