"To those leaning on the sustaining infinite, to-day is big...
"To those leaning on the sustaining infinite, to-day is big with blessing," Mrs. Eddy writes in "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" (Pref., p. vii). This statement has been proved to me many times, and it is with deep gratitude that I send this testimony. Over seventeen years ago Christian Science found me in darkness and on the edge of the pit. I was not seeking help for myself, but for a dear one. To my great joy, however, I was healed through reading Science and Health. Christian Science has been my only physician since then. I have relied on God for every need, and He has never failed me.
I am so grateful to Mrs. Eddy for giving us Science and Health and for teaching us to pray aright and to love those who seem to hate us. Love will overcome all manner of discord if we but let our light of love shine, dispelling darkness in ourselves and in others. I have been healed of many discordant conditions through the understanding of Christian Science. I found that many of my ailments were caused by entertaining resentment in my thought. I found that to the extent of its presence in my thought I was not reflecting Life, Truth, and Love. Now I know that I must bind "the strong man," mortal mind (see Science and Health, p. 400), and overcome resentment with love. Through this understanding I was healed of stomach trouble in its worst form.
I wish to express my sincere gratitude for the following healing. My right hand was caught in the wringer of an electric washing machine. My hand was halfway through when I stopped the machine. In my excitement I pulled my hand out and in doing so tore my little finger badly. There was just about an inch on the outside of my hand intact. I repeated "the scientific statement of being" (ibid., p. 468) while my husband called a practitioner for help. She came and stayed about an hour. I was instantaneously healed of pain and fear. This occurred at nine o'clock at night. I slept well that night and in the morning went to my work and worked all day. Then I stayed at home for nine days. At the end of that time my hand was healed and I returned to my work as a glove fitter.
