The Lectures

Fall River, Massachusetts (First Church).

Lecturer: John Ellis Sedman; introduced by Mrs. Celia Ellsworth Rounds, who said:—

It was not through physical healing that I first came into the beautiful realization of what Christian Science does for mankind. There was a longing for greater spiritual advancement, for which I had been searching many years. From childhood I had been conscious of God's loving care, even taking to Him my childish problems. There was faith that He was the source of all good, but this longing was never satisfied until Christian Science came into my life; and it is needless to add that many problems, whether of sickness, sorrow, or lack, have been promptly met through the application of what has been gained through the study of the Christian Science textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy. Not only have there been many healings, but with the unfoldment of a fuller spiritual understanding there has been protection from much seeming discord. In "Miscellaneous Writings" by Mrs. Eddy, on page 154, we find this paragraph: "It is the purpose of divine Love to resurrect the understanding, and the kingdom of God, the reign of harmony already within us. Through the word that is spoken unto you, are you made free. Abide in His word, and it shall abide in you; and the healing Christ will again be made manifest in the flesh—understood and glorified."
