I was first attracted to Christian Science through the healing of my mother. Her trouble was diagnosed by reputable physicians as an ingrowing goiter. She was placed in a sanitarium, and after a second diagnosis had substantiated the first, was given two weeks more to live. A dear friend heard of her plight and suggested that we try Christian Science. This was done, and to our joy and surprise she was healed instantaneously. The entire family then took up the study of this wonderful Science. Many healings followed; old fears and hatreds were banished; the home became more harmonious; I was able to go to college. My mother was also quickly healed of the effects of severe scalding. In short, Christian Science proved to us that "Truth, Life, and Love are a law of annihilation to everything unlike themselves, because they declare nothing except God," as Mrs. Eddy states on page 243 of "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures."
Since then Christian Science has been our only physician for healing the ills of the flesh. Both my wife and I have been healed of headaches and influenza, and unemployment also has ceased to be a worry. While I have had many demonstrations of the healing power of God as revealed by Mrs. Eddy, my greatest proof of it came not long ago. Sinus trouble developed and I failed to meet it with my understanding of God. It steadily grew worse until I was unable to remain in bed, rest in a chair, or walk around, the pain being so intense. I then decided to call a Christian Science practitioner for help. I was told to try to read something by Mrs. Eddy if it were possible for me to do so. As I hung up the telephone receiver the pain subsided, and when I opened Science and Health and read, the trouble cleared and I was free. Tears of joy followed, and with heartfelt gratitude I notified the practitioner of the result, saying that the healing was complete. I am especially grateful for this, as it was my first instantaneous healing, proving to me that "the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any twoedged sword." I have found that Christian Science meets my every need.—Oscar B. Smith, Indianapolis, Indiana.
