When a little girl I was taken seriously ill with scarlet fever. Our family physician gave the case most careful attention, but I grew worse. When he could do nothing further, an eminent specialist was called in. He declared the case hopeless. A few months before this my mother had had the opportunity to read a copy of "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy, lent her for two weeks by a neighbor. It was only when the doctors said that I could live but a few hours that my father allowed my mother to turn to Christian Science. There was then no time to find out how to get a Christian Science practitioner, so my mother started at once to apply the truth she had learned by reading Science and Health. Instantly I was relieved of great suffering. She continued treating me for about two weeks and all weakness left me. By that time I could walk again and was well and happy.

During all these years Christian Science has been of the utmost benefit to me, not only in the overcoming of the appearances of evil which might manifest themselves, but in protecting me. For physical healing I am truly grateful, but I am even more grateful for the increasing spiritual understanding I am daily receiving through the study of the works of our beloved Leader, Mrs. Eddy.
