From a Far Country

Whether you sail a foam-swept, lifting sea,
Or broad wings lift you out along the air,
Or thought runs troubled through a long, dark night,
Remember this—that God is everywhere:

One presence, Spirit, one eternal Mind,
Whose harmony needs yours to be complete;
One Love so vast the dream of darkness breaks;
And, for your homebound steps, one mercy seat!
