I am deeply grateful for all the blessings which have come to my family and to me through the study and application of Christian Science. I am glad that God's law, which Christian Science reveals, is ever present and available, and is always operative if honestly applied. In August, 1928, I met with an accident in which the top of my finger was taken off. I became quite dizzy and faint, but immediately declared that God was my strength. I experienced no more trouble, and from that time on I had no pain. I was taken to a hospital, and when the doctor arrived he told me that it would be necessary to amputate the finger at the first joint, explaining that the bone was bare.

I told the doctor I did not wish to have the operation performed. At first he thought that I was afraid, until the nurse told him I was a Christian Scientist. Then he said that although he did not agree with me in regard to the finger, yet he could respect me! He asked me to come to see him every few days, as he was much interested in the case, and also for the purpose of dressing the finger. This made me more diligent in declaring the law of God, and I am very thankful for the results.

On the fifteenth of November I went to see the doctor, and after giving the finger a thorough examination he said : "Well, this is remarkable! I could never have done the work like that. You are glad you did not allow me to amputate the finger, and so am I."
