The Lectures
Introductions to Lectures
New Brunswick, New Jersey (First Church).
Lecturer: John Randall Dunn; introduced by Miss Ruth E. Smith, who said:—
For centuries men have been seeking for something which would heal their diseases, comfort their sorrows, and supply their needs. It is recognized that Jesus healed all manner of human discord, and that his followers for about three hundred years after his ascension did likewise. Then Christians seemed to lose their ability to heal as Jesus healed; and ever since, men have been searching for some universally satisfactory means of healing human troubles. We who have accepted the teachings of Christian Science believe that this Science is the healing truth for which men have been searching throughout the centuries. We understand that it is the Comforter which Jesus promised, and that it elucidates the healing Principle which he taught and practiced. We have tested its efficacy in our own experience and have found that it does heal not only sickness, but also sin and other human difficulties.
