About twenty years ago I had a surgical operation for appendicitis. Eight months afterwards I was operated on again for intestinal trouble, but it was of no avail. I seemed to feel better for a short time, but after getting around the house the trouble returned. The attending physician said that he could do no more for me, and that I had only six months to live. At this time Christian Science was presented to me by a dear friend. I was greatly discouraged, and thought another operation might do me good, but the physician refused to operate again. My friend stated that if Christian Science did not do me any good, it certainly would not do me any harm. These words set me thinking. It was really true that I could not get much worse, whatever I tried. Then I began to study "the scientific statement of being" on page 468 of the Christian Science textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy, and the Bible Lessons in the Christian Science Quarterly. In about three months I was entirely healed, and I know the healing is permanent.

For the healing of this and several minor ailments, and also for the spiritual uplifting, I am indeed grateful.
