With a grateful heart I wish to give glory to God, and to relate a beautiful healing I experienced a few years ago. Owing to a fall when skiing, a piece of cartilage had been torn off in my knee and became lodged, as a doctor latter on diagnosed, as some wandering foreign substance in my knee. At first it hindered me in certain movements, but otherwise did not trouble me much. In 1926, however, it suddenly caused a bad inflammation of the knee joint, together with water on the knee. The knee became badly swollen, and I could not use my leg at all. A doctor said that as soon as the swelling had abated I must have the cartilage removed by an operation; otherwise I should always be subject to such disturbances.

As I was traveling at the time I could not at once ask for Christian Science treatment. About two weeks later, on my arrival home after a trying journey, a practitioner came to see me. The very next day the swelling began to abate, and in a week I was able to walk. About six weeks later I had the knee X-rayed by a doctor, who to his own amazement ascertained that the joint was perfectly clear and no trace of a foreign substance could be seen. Since then I have been able to move freely again without trouble, and exertion such as mountain climbing and hiking no longer has any effect.
