My father was a physician and medical laws, so called, were fully discussed and consequently firmly implanted in our thought, together with their attendant fears and superstitions. As a result, home conditions were not happy and ill health prevailed. My mother was an invalid, although she had undergone many surgical operations and was an habitual user of medicine.

After my father's passing, my mother, still searching for health, in desperation turned to Christian Science, hoping to find some relief from her many sufferings. Through the loving help of a practitioner, and her own earnest study of our textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy, she was healed of stomach and bowel trouble, liver complaint, and gallstones. I saw these old dream-shadows pass away, and rejoiced to see a well, happy mother. At this time I earnestly took up the study of Christian Science and accepted it without any reservations, comprehending very little, yet happy to know that through faithful study and application a fuller understanding would follow. This proved to be true.

A marvelous healing occurred at this time when I was only a beginner in the study of this wonderful truth. After the birth of my last child a surgical operation was deemed necessary by the attending physician, as I was in a very miserable condition, hardly able to be about and care for my baby. I sought comfort from a dear Christian Science friend, and after two absent Christian Science treatments
