Since taking up the study of Christian Science I have had many beautiful demonstrations of God's healing power. About seven years ago I was healed of serious illness— Graves' disease, kidney trouble, and other discordant conditions, from which doctors and specialists held out no hope of recovery. I had attended Christian Science services for a little time, but had never been quite able to grasp the healing truth. One day when suffering severely the words came into my thought that "man's extremity is God's opportunity," and that the sick are never really healed except through divine power. Knowing myself to be, in reality, the child of God, I held steadfastly to those thoughts and turned away from all material aid. With the help of a loving Christian Science practitioner and friends I was soon able to rise from my bed, where I had been confined for over two years.

For all these blessings I am deeply grateful — not just for the healing, but for the spiritual uplifting and the better understanding of God.
