There is ... another phase of Christianity which lies distinctly with the province of the public school system, and that is the education of the young in the duties of citizenship and their social responsibilities in the community and the nation.

We are command to acknowledge God, but coupled with this there is also the definite command to visit the fatherless in their affliction and to love our neighbor as ourselves. Man's social relationship with his fellow-men and his apprehension of spiritual reality, together, make Christianity a vital religion, weaving into the fabric of society ... justice, equity, and willing cooperation, upon which the highest welfare of the race depends.
