Your issue of the seventh instant contains a report of a lecture in connection with the Malvern Theosophical Centre on the use and meaning of pain. In the course of his address the lecturer referred to Christian Science, and it is to be regretted that he should have done so without being correctly informed in regard to the teachings of this now world-wide religion.

The full statement of Christian Science is contained in the Christian Science textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy, and its first tenet reads as follows (p. 497): "As adherents of Truth, we take the inspired Word of the Bible as our sufficient guide to eternal Life." I would further add that on page 192 of Science and Health Mrs. Eddy writes, "Christianity is the basis of true healing."
