I took up the study of Christian Science for physical...
I took up the study of Christian Science for physical healing after being under the doctor's care most of the time for nearly twelve years, and it has proved to be a wonderful blessing to me.
Twice while living in Connecticut I was sent to the Adirondack Mountains, as the doctor said I was developing tuberculosis. Previous to my being sent there my two brothers had passed on within three months of each other with this disease. The last time I went to the mountains, after three months I was obliged to return to my home in Connecticut. My health would not, however, permit me to stay there, so the doctor recommended the Berkshire Hills, where it was high and dry. I came to the Berkshires over eleven years ago seeking for health, but my troubles only seemed to multiply.
About nine years ago I had a severe attack of pleurisy, and had to give up my home and go to my mother's where I could have constant care. I was there seven months. One day, while there, I met a friend whom I had not seen for some time, and she told me about Christian Science and what it had done for her. I did not know until then that she was a Christian Scientist. I did not see how Christian Science could help me, so I did not give it another thought until three years later, when I was taken very ill in the night. The doctor was called and was with me until the morning. I did not even then think of Christian Science helping me until the day the doctor said I could sit up for a little while. Then I remembered what my friend had told me, and decided to try Christian Science for relief.
