I am grateful to God, the Giver of all good, for the many channels through which I have been helped in finding my way into the land of Christian Science. I am grateful to Christ Jesus, who lived to show us the way out of this seeming material existence. I am grateful to Mrs. Eddy, whose pure thought was able to grasp the facts of eternal Life and spiritually to understand the sacred Scriptures. Through her obedience to God she walked over the waves of materialism to give us her writings, which enable us spiritually to understand and intelligently to work out our salvation.

My first acquaintance with Christian Science was in 1912. My husband had a severe attack of ptomaine poisoning and, having heard of Christian Science, wished to go to a practitioner for help. He had about one hundred miles to go, and it took two days to make the trip. However, the reward was wonderful. After a short talk with the practitioner she gave him a treatment. He was instantaneously and entirely healed. The next day he returned home, a well and happy man.

Soon after this I was entirely relieved of intense pain through reading "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy. I did not then understand these wonderful healings; nor did I realize that it was within my reach to understand them. We lived far from any Christian Science church or Christian Scientists. I had only Science and Health to guide me; but I realized later that it was quite sufficient. I am grateful for the many blessings received through reading the textbook during those many years when so much of the time I was alone.
