When I first began the study of Christian Science the...
When I first began the study of Christian Science the question, "What is truth?" kept recurring again and again to me. I remember so well the first testimony meeting I attended. Several people there said they knew the truth, and had been made free from their problems; and I wanted to know what this truth was. After I had been studying for about a month, my prayer was answered by demonstration, for I was healed of certain organic troubles which several doctors had said I would always have. Words cannot express the joy I experienced when I found myself free from the constant pain which seemed to be taking away my right to live; it was so wonderful that I could hardly believe it myself. Up to this time I was so depleted physically that I looked as miserable as I felt, but it was not long before I began to improve. Some friends who saw me a couple of years later said how remarkably well I was looking, and decided it was due to the climate; but I was so grateful to be able to tell them it was Christian Science that had healed me. About this time I was also healed of fallen arches. I suffered so severely from this that it was almost impossible for me to walk at times.
That Christian Science completely eradicates diseased thoughts was proved in another healing I had. Before I became interested in Christian Science I was frequently stricken with bilious attacks, sometimes two or three times a week; everything became black before me, and I was very weak and ill. From the moment I began the study of the textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy, I never had another of these attacks, and I did not remember that I had ever had one until I was reminded of it by hearing someone at a Wednesday evening testimony meeting tell of being healed of the same thing.
On page 463 of the textbook we find these words: "A spiritual idea has not a single element of error, and this truth removes properly whatever is offensive." I know this statement to be true because I have proved it many times. I am also grateful for the demonstration of supply. Since I have sought "the kingdom of God, and his righteousness," all my needs have been met.
