A few days after I had become interested in Christian Science...
A few days after I had become interested in Christian Science, through realizing that God, good, is the only power, and that it was my divine right to be perfect, I was able to lay aside my glasses, which I had worn for fourteen years. The eyes were instantaneously healed.
I should like to tell of two more healings out of the many we have had in our home through Christian Science. When filling a hot-water bottle with boiling water, I let the kettle fall, and the boiling water went all over my foot. I held on to the truth that there is no matter in Spirit, and that God does not know of accidents, with the result that the foot was healed in about two minutes.
At another time I heard my daughter call for me in a very distressed way. I rushed up to her bedroom, and found her sitting up in bed looking very pale. I declared the truth aloud, that "man is never sick, for Mind is not sick and matter cannot be" (Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures, by Mary Baker Eddy, p. 393), and then told her to lie down. As I was leaving the room I thought I would leave her bedroom door open, so that I might hear her if she called; but, realizing that this was not radically relying upon Truth, I closed the door. My daughter told me the next morning that for a minute after I left her she felt very ill, and the next minute she felt completely well.
