For many years before knowing anything about Christian Science...
For many years before knowing anything about Christian Science I suffered from almost constant headaches. I took a great deal of medicine, but experienced very little relief. After learning something about the healing power of Christian Science, I asked for treatment from a practitioner and was relieved at once. Since that time I have relied entirely on Christian Science for healing and have never found it wanting.
During an influenza epidemic, my sister and I were employed by a company who provided the services of a doctor and a nurse to administer a preventive by hypodermic injection. We were the only two among a couple of hundred employees who did not submit to this treatment; and, although we had influenza, we relied upon Christian Science for healing, and were back at our posts in less than two weeks. A number of the other employees, who had the so-called preventive administered, were confined to their homes for a number of weeks, and other cases proved fatal.
During the financial depression in 1920, I was obliged to seek new employment. A number of coworkers had already been dismissed, and I was one of the last to go. Those associated with me were expressing a great deal of fear in discouraging remarks, but even with the slight understanding I had of God's protecting care I did not feel discouraged in the least. This fact was commented upon when I left the company's employment a week later. In the interim, every available channel was used for seeking employment, and the continual knowing that God's ideas are forever in their right place and always about the Father's business proved a constant refuge from the aggressive suggestions of mortal mind. My position terminated on a Saturday noon. When I went to the office that particular morning I did not know where my work would take me on Monday morning; but before noon that Saturday I had accepted a position which seemed to meet my needs.
