To-day, as never before, my heart overflows with gratitude...

To-day, as never before, my heart overflows with gratitude to God for His message of Christian Science and for His messenger, Mary Baker Eddy, the Discoverer and Founder of Christian Science.

Christian Science came into our home when I was a small child. My mother, an invalid for many years, was instantaneously healed, and from that time on God has been our only physician. I have always loved and esteemed our Leader, but never before, as to-day, have I realized my debt of gratitude to her. I humbly pray that I may fulfill the words on pages 271 and 272 of "The First Church of Christ, Scientist, and Miscellany," where Mrs. Eddy says: "What is 'nearest and dearest' to my heart is an honest man or woman—one who steadfastly and actively strives for perfection, one who leavens the loaf of life with justice, mercy, truth, and love."

I want to express my gratitude for the Board of Directors of The Mother Church, for the lecturers, the editors, the contributors to our periodicals, and all who are connected with the publishing of them; to the dear practitioners and workers in our Cause; in fact, to one and all who have helped me to a better realization of God, "whom to know aright is Life eternal" (Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures, by Mary Baker Eddy, Pref., p. vii). I am grateful for class instruction, and for the blessed privilege of membership in The Mother Church.

In our family many physical ills have been cured through Christian Science treatment: influenza, smallpox, granulated eyelids, and many others too numerous to mention. Several years ago I was healed of nervous prostration. During the weary hours when I struggled for freedom, I learned something of what our Leader means when she says on page 496 of Science and Health: "We all must learn that Life is God." of Science and Health: "We all must learn that Life is God." When my suffering and the fear that I might pass on seemed almost unbearable, I would thank God that I knew that He was my Life; would thank Him for His love, for everything, including the flowers and help of a dear, conscientious practitioner, who never wavered,—was never absent from his post day or night,—and my dear, faithful husband, slowly but surely I began to see the light. When I could walk out of my room, I thanked God that I could walk; and with each unfoldment of God's love, my gratitude increased, and is day by day still increasing.

When one is brought face to face with the "last enemy" and is healed as I have been, can he ever express his gratitude to the one who has made this possible? No, not in words! Therefore, as our Leader expresses it, I hope thus to prove my gratitude (Poems, p. 13):

"My prayer, some daily good to do
To Thine, for Thee;
An offering pure of Love, whereto
God leadeth me."

I am grateful for the Christian Science Sunday School. It was my privilege to attend the Sunday school for many years, and now our boy is enjoying this blessing. He is a lad of ten years, well, happy, and strong, and has had only the medicine of divine Science. Mrs. Eddy states on page 104 of Science and Health that "the medicine of Science is divine Mind."—(Mrs.) Fannye Early Bostic, Long Beach, California.
